Bliss & Lowery Plaza
The Plazas
Welcome to Sunnyside’s newest public spaces: Bliss Plaza and Lowery Plaza.
Located under the elevated 7 train along Queens Boulevard at 40th Street (Lowery Plaza) and 46th Street (Bliss Plaza), both plazas are managed by Sunnyside Shines and a part of the NYC Department of Transportation’s Plaza Program. The plazas consist of colorful plantings, tables and chairs, making them ideal places to meet friends, enjoy an outdoor lunch or watch the world go by.
Sunnyside Shines maintains the plazas on a daily basis with our partners at Neighborhood Plaza Partnership, the Horticultural Society of New York, ACE New York and Atlantic Maintenance Corporation. The plantings are changed seasonally and the plazas are power washed once per quarter.

Events & Programming
Sunnyside Shines hosts events in the plazas throughout the year. In 2015, we hosted Third Thursdays in Bliss Plaza in partnership with ReCreate QNS, consisting of monthly diverse performances after work in Bliss Plaza. For 2016, we are hosting Spring into the Plazas, a weekly series of plaza activations and events throughout the spring.

Looking to hold an event?
If you would like to hold an event in either plaza, you will need a permit from the NYC Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).
