It’s almost time for the most delicious week of dining out in one of New York City’s most diverse areas: Sunnyside, Queens. The Sunnyside Shines Business Improvement District presents the 5th annual Sunnyside Restaurant Week, which begins this year on Sunday, October 1. Nearly thirty restaurants throughout the neighborhood are expected to participate in the event, which features dining deals inside local restaurants and showcases Sunnyside as a dining destination.
Sunnyside Restaurant Week is a week-long promotion taking place from October 1-7, 2017. Enthusiastic eaters from all over the five boroughs are invited to sample international cuisine from some of the most authentic local restaurants in New York City. Each participating restaurant will serve a three-course dinner menu for $25 with many establishments offering additional lunch specials, and a few offering the $25 dinner menu for two people. Menus for each participating restaurant will be posted online as they are received at www.sunnysideshines.org/sunnyside-restaurant-week.
Foodies and gastronomy fans have a dizzying selection of diverse and delicious cuisines from which to choose, including Italian, Japanese, Peruvian, Mexican, Irish, Colombian, Tibetan, French, Seasonal American, and more. This year’s Restaurant Week will also include a contest encouraging people to dine out multiple times during the week. Each time a customer orders the Restaurant Week deal at a participating restaurant, they will receive a sticker on their Restaurant Week card. Customers collecting three stickers can return their card to any participating restaurant and be entered to win dinner for four to a participating restaurant of their choice (a $250 gift certificate). Cards are available at all participating restaurants and will be distributed throughout the neighborhood during September.
“Sunnyside Restaurant Week is a great opportunity for everyone,” says Jaime-Faye Bean, executive director of Sunnyside Shines. “It makes for a great date night for our local residents, but we also want New Yorkers from outside the neighborhood and even visitors to the City to come discover on of the City’s best neighborhoods while having a delicious and memorable meal.”
Sunnyside Restaurant Week has shown to increase business at participating restaurants each year; gratified restaurant owners last year reported that the event greatly increased business over the course of the week, with 95% of participating businesses reporting a noticeable bump in diners.
