Sunnyside Restaurant Week Doubles in Size for 2014

Sunnyside’s 2nd Annual Restaurant Week Opens October 20;

Art Installations and Opening Party Announced

Sunnyside, New York, October 13, 2014: Around the world in 32 plates! Sunnyside Shines Business Improvement District is kicking off its 2nd Annual Sunnyside Restaurant Week with an opening reception on Monday, October 20th at 7pm at Salt and Fat (41-16 Queens Boulevard). The public is invited to attend the reception, which will include a guided tour of all five art installations around the neighborhood, as well as a one-night film screening at Dazies Restaurant.

Sunnyside Restaurant Week is a five-day promotion from October 20th - 24th. Enthusiastic eaters from all over the five boroughs are invited to sample international cuisines from some of the best local restaurants in New York City. This year’s Restaurant Week will feature menus from 32 restaurants - double the participation from last year. Each restaurant will serve a three course dinner menu for $25 with many offering additional lunch specials. In addition to the dining specials, Sunnyside Restaurant Week also features contemporary art installations inside five of the participating restaurants, several of which feature original works created by local artists. The show, entitled From Nuisance to New Stance, is curated by No Longer Empty, the contemporary arts organization. The exhibiting artists and locations of their work are listed here:

Foodies and gastronomy fans have a dizzying selection of diverse and delicious cuisines from which to choose. On the menu: Italian, Romanian, Japanese, Paraguayan, Peruvian, Mexican, Irish, Thai, Colombian, Tibetan, Filipino, French, Seasonal American, and more. Participating restaurants include newcomers to the Sunnyside culinary scene (Tibetan Dumpling Cafe, Blu Orchid) as well as the neighborhood’s two restaurants recognized as Michelin “Bib Gourmands” (Venturo and Salt and Fat).
