Sunnyside Shines had its first Spring into the Plazas event on Friday, and it was a resounding success. NYC Council Majority Leader Jimmy Van Bramer, a primary funder of the series, stopped by and played a game of chess. New York 1 put together a story for the evening news about the event, and upwards of 150 people stopped in Lowery Plaza to watch, participate, and enjoy the free coffee drinks provided by Soleluna. Spring into the Plazas has provided another great opportunity for community members to connect in a warm and inviting environment. Teams of people worked together to play friendly games against each other with fun and learning the primary focus.
The next event will be Friday, March 18 starting at 12pm. Cevan Castle, local artist and landscape designer, will be teaching visitors how to make home-made mini-greenhouses. Participants will be able to construct and plant a tiny greenhouse made from recycled materials to take home. Welcome, spring![cesis_gallery images="11544" img_size="full" col="3" margin_top="20" margin_bottom="20"]
