The 2014 Kids Craft Fair, co-produced with Re-Create Queens, a new coalition dedicated to building space for the terrific arts and youth programs in the neighborhood, was a huge hit in Sunnyside on July 26, 2014. More than 700 children attended the event, which was part of Sunnyside Summer Strolls, a two-day street festival on 46th Street under the Sunnyside arch.
The huge turnout demonstrated how eager Sunnysiders are to create and enjoy the arts together, and showcased the cultural richness of the neighborhood. This year's Craft Fair had significant participation from local businesses and arts groups, including the following:
Artist & Craftsman Supply
Bing's Hallmark
Dime Savings Bank
4Squared Flavors
Fresh n Save Marketplace
Kids Music Together
KMIA Salon
Mare Nostrum Elements
McManus Irish Dance
Music for Queens
Sunnyside Ballet Studio
Sunnyside Community Services
TD Bank
Turkish Cultural Center
Unplug Kids
The event also featured a pop-up library in the new Bliss Plaza, just across Queens Boulevard under the elevated 7 train. The library was provided by the Uni Project, in partnership with the Sunnyside branch of the Queens Library and the Neighborhood Plaza Partnership.
Thank you to all who attended this fantastic event, and thank you to our sponsors: Key Food Fresh n Save Marketplace and Artist and Craftsman Supply!
