WIlliam Chaca and Norma Sinchi of Coffee Tossy
Several years ago, Sunnyside Shines surveyed neighborhood shoppers to ask them what new businesses they wanted to see. Near the top of the list? More independent coffee shops! Coffee Tossy, one of the newest businesses in Sunnyside Shines' district, surely delivers, with an outstanding cuppa and much more.
Owner William Chaca, who opened the business along with his wife Norma Sinchi, first noticed the opportunity for Coffee Tossy while walking his dog near Noonan Park. Having spent a significant part of his childhood on his family's coffee farm in Colombia, Chaca's vision is to bring authentic flavors and quality to his corner of the neighborhood, along with a bright, welcoming atmosphere where patrons can dine, visit, and work on the shop's speedy wi-fi connection. Coffee Tossy offers a generous selection of pastries, sandwiches, salads, and fresh juices alongside its café drinks.
Sunnyside Shines recently honored Coffee Tossy with the annual Neighborhood Wow Award, which recognizes businesses that have made a significant contribution to the vitality of the community. William and Norma accepted the award alongside their 7-year-old son, Steve, and William explained that Coffee Tossy was more than just a business: it's a way to provide his children with a meaningful bridge between their South American roots and their home in the tight-knit Sunnyside community. He promises more surprises to come as he develops Coffee Tossy even further; in the meantime, we have an outstanding option for our morning Joe!
