Opening earlier this year, Brookside Market has quickly become a neighborhood staple for many with their excellent selection of coffee using beans from Stumptown Coffee Roasters and quality menu items made fresh. From creative specialty lattes - such as charcoal, beet, or their twist on London Fog - to an array of sandwiches and freshly pressed juice concoctions, owners Paul and Brendan Longo, along with their staff, are always brewing something new in their café kitchen. The coffee shop was inspired by and named after their family's long-time farm stand business in Woodbridge, Connecticut.
Among the wide selection, some of the items are crafted from family recipes, like the homemade Meatball on Brioche with burrata and basil sandwich and the seasonal double-baked blueberry muffin. Their full menu is available on Grubhub here (yes, they now deliver!). Brendan, who manages the operations, shares his go-to breakfast item as the Royal Wulff, a sandwich filled with eggs, prosciutto, and arugula.
Sourcing most of their ingredients locally, the Longos wanted to emphasize the importance of being community-minded, from purchasing their meat from Sunnyside's The Butcher Block located at 43-46 41st Street or stocking up with baked goods from Amy's Bread, based in Long Island City. Moreover, during the warmer weather, the cafe is host to communal yoga classes with the local YMCA and just recently partnered with local business Sunnyside Plays to hold a pop-up coloring book activity for kids during the Sunnyside Shop Local Trolley Tours. Just in time for the holiday season, Brookside Market has recently launched their gift cards (available in-store)! Brookside Market is opened from 7 AM to 7 PM daily.
