Sunnyside Shines is kicking off a new initiative to promote neighborhood salons and personal care businesses---and residents can take advantage of great deals that will get them looking fresh through the end of summer and into the new school year! The 1st Annual Sunnyside Spa and Salon Fest will launch Friday, August 17th, and continue through August 26th with $30 beauty and personal care specials. A dozen neighborhood salons, spas, and barber shops are participating with a range of specials to choose from.
Styled on the nationwide “Spa Week”, Sunnyside Spa and Salon Fest aims to highlight the variety and quality of personal care services available in the neighborhood. Highlighted specials at only $30 apiece include a Chocolate Brazilian and Underarm Wax (Blush & Glow Day Spa), a spa mani-pedi (Pink Nails), a hot shave or haircut accompanied by a black mask treatment (Nelson’s Barber Shop), a pair of Mommy and Me or Daddy and Me haircuts (Ultimate Hair Design), a spa facial (Permanent Beauty & Skin Care), and much more. This year’s Spa and Salon Fest will also include a contest open to all participants. Those who take advantage of a Spa and Salon Fest special will receive a flyer with a sticker on it from the participating business; customers can leave this with the business or drop it off at Sunnyside Shines’ office by August 31st to be entered into a prize drawing. Three winners will be chosen at random and will receive $100, $75, or $50 gift certificates to the participating business of their choice. Flyers listing all participating businesses and a map of their locations will also be distributed at 40th and 46th Street subway stations in Sunnyside.
“We have a great variety of personal care businesses right here in the neighborhood, for residents of all ages and genders,” says Jaime-Faye Bean, executive director of Sunnyside Shines. “Sunnyside Spa and Salon Fest encourages residents to treat themselves to a new haircut or spa service right here in Sunnyside---you don’t have to travel far to look and feel really great.”
